Education:
De Martenson received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Law. He was the President of his senior law class. Practice Areas: De is a senior partner in the Firm and has an active practice in all local and regional state and federal courts and Courts of Appeals. He is also licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. He is a frequent speaker in the area of trial skills and litigation. He has an active civil defense practice that finds him as lead trial counsel in a variety of high profile cases. Present litigation includes not only automotive product liability litigation but also toxic tort and environmental litigation, complex business and commercial claims, and he is currently defending a Dealership fraud/misrepresentation claim brought against a major automotive manufacturer. His practice routinely takes him to venues outside Alabama for many Fortune 500 companies. He has defended cases to jury verdict in numerous Southeast states, and presently serves clients on both a regional and national basis as coordinating counsel in specialty claims. Professional Profile: He is a member of the International Association of Defense Council, the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine, the Defense Research Institute, the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, a sustaining member of the Product Liability Advisory Council, the Alabama State Bar, and Birmingham and American Bar Associations. He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Alabama Law School Foundation. He is the author of “Practical and Legal Aspects of Product Liability Defense” published in The Alabama Lawyer, October, 1974. He is also listed in “The Best Lawyers in America” (1990-present), and is listed in the recently published Alabama Super Lawyers. |
