Huie, Fernambucq & Stewart: Recruitment

Huie, Fernambucq and Stewart, LLP relies heavily upon the summer associate program in filling it's associate needs. However, the Firm is always interested in meeting and discussing employment opportunities for all qualified law students and lateral attorneys. The goal of the Firm's summer program is to provide in-depth insight into the Firm, it's lawyers and their various areas of practice. The summer associates' work includes brief writing, legal research, witness interviewing, and assisting the lawyers with deposition and trial preparation. Summer associates also accompany attorneys to hearings, depositions, client meetings, witness interviews, and trials so that they may gain valuable experience in some of the practical aspects of law practice. Summer associates are mentored by members of the Firm who will provide feedback and guidance on the projects they are assigned.

The summer program also includes a number of social and recreational events that enable the summer clerks and lawyers to become better acquainted. Huie, Fernambucq and Stewart, LLP is a family-oriented firm and we feel it is important for our summer associates to get to know the Firm's lawyers and their families.

The number of summer associate openings in the program available each summer is determined by a realistic evaluation of our expected hiring needs for the new associates. We conduct on campus interviews at the University of Alabama School of Law and Cumberland Law School. Second year law students should check with their Career Service Office for the deadlines to submit materials and for interview dates.
